YINGLI COLLEGE : NAAC ACCREDITATION - B+


Yingli College was established by the Association of Phom Graduates and Officer (APGO) on 09 September, 1992. It was inaugurated by Mr. T. C. Sangtam, the then ADC, Longleng as the chief guest. In the beginning, the college was functioning at the old ADC office as the academic building and the Sub-Divisional Agri-Office building as Lecturers' hostel after obtaining the temporary permit from the department. The Government of Nagaland recognized and granted permission for opening the college through its order dated 25.09.1992. For the smooth functioning of the college, the College Management Committee (CMC) was constituted with Shri. Y. B. Angam as the Chairman.

Initially, the college was sponsored by the Phom villages by deducting 10% of their Village Development Fund (VDB) and was managed by the APGO under the umbrella of the Phom People's Council (PPC). The college was shifted from Old ADC Colony (Leinak ward) to the permanent campus, which is now located in a sprawling area of 52.47 acres of land donated by the Bhumnyu Village Council at Longongkang Campus, 2 kilometres away from Longleng district headquarters. The campus was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Nagaland Shri. Neiphiu Rio on June 06, 2003. The college adopted 'Longongkang Campus' as the official name for its permanent campus.

The Government of Nagaland took over the college with effect from February 01, 2006. The college is permanently affiliated to Nagaland University and recognized by the University Grant Commission (UGC). Yingli College completed 25 years of its existence and celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 2017. The college has brick-walled campus, girls and boys hostels, indoor stadium, spacious library, football and basket ball grounds, horticulture farm, host National Institute of Electronic and Information Technology (NIELIT) and the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) centres, etc.

The college emblem and its motto reflect the mission and vision of the college. The image of the globe tells us the quest for universal knowledge. The motto of the college 'Striving for Excellence' highlighted in the emblem intends to create a spirit for quality education. The pictures of graduation caps and the pen indicate quest for higher education.

VISION:


Yingli College was established with the vision of imparting quality education and to disseminate knowledge to the people of socio-economically underdeveloped region of Nagaland and specially the district of Longleng. The institution also sets the vision to enhance social and environmental awareness, to work for nation building and to develop skills among the young generation to make them self reliant.

MISSION:


In the midst of numerous hurdles, the college has been marching forward steadily towards all round development in the field of academic, extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. The college gives equal emphasis to formal, non-formal and vocational education and broadens its scope to adjust with the trend of change, as per the needs of the time and copes with the modern world. The college undertakes various programmes pertaining to national integration, equality, social justice, and works to revive and preserve tribal culture and heritage in order to inculcate these values among the young generation. Moreover, it imparts training to students on moral values with a view to making them honest and dedicated citizens of the country. The institution has been working to reach the goals of the college by formulating, adopting and implementing various methods under the constant supervision of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
