As part of the Intensified IEC Campaign 2025, Yingli College, Longleng, organized awareness activities through street play and flash mob on 19th September, 2025 under the theme “Ending Stigma, Ensuring Health”. The campaign was supported by the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) with the objective of creating awareness on HIV, AIDS, and other STIs, promoting safe practices, and reducing stigma associated with the disease.
The campaign was conducted at multiple locations in and around Longleng district to ensure wider outreach:
1. Yingli College Campus (Flash mob and Street Play)
2. Oushok Village (Street Play)
3. Hukpang Junction (Market Area) (Flash mob and Street Play)
4. Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Longleng (Street Play)
5. Lempong Junction (Flash mob and Street play)
These sites were strategically selected to reach diverse audiences including students, villagers, office-goers, and the general public.
Activities Conducted
a) Street Play
The students of Yingli College performed a street play at each of the five venues. The play focused on myths and facts about HIV transmission, the importance of early testing, and support for people living with HIV. The interactive format drew strong engagement from audiences, making the message clear and relatable. It used a mix of folk elements, and dialogues to engage both rural and urban audiences. The message emphasized that HIV is not the end. Testing and treatment save lives, but stigma destroys communities.
b) Flash Mob Dance
A vibrant flash mob performance was held at Yingli College Campus, Hukpang Junction (Market area) and Lempong Junction.
The dance, performed to lively beats, carried placards with messages such as:
“Get Tested, Stay Healthy”
“Stop HIV Stigma”
“Health for All, Stigma for None”
“Refusing is a Better Choice”
“Safe Practice Safe Life”
“Stop the Blame, End the Shame”
“Test Treat Live”
Pamphlets were distributed to the crowd following the dance.
Audience Engagement
Yingli College Campus: Around 150 students attended.
Oushok Village: Approximately 50 villagers gathered.
Hukpang Junction (Market Area): Flash mob attracted around 100 spectators, including shopkeepers and passersby.
DC Office Longleng: Around 50 officials and staff witnessed the drama.
Lempong Junction: The performance drew a crowd of nearly 50 people, mostly youth and travellers.
